A process for the production of acrylic moldable and/or thermoformable polymers by the free radical polymerization of a mixture of monomers containing from 40 to 98 weight percent of lower alkyl methacrylate, cycloalkyl methacrylate, styrene, or substituted styrene or a mixture of such monomers, from 2 to 60 weight percent of an Alpha , Beta -unsaturated carboxylic acid having at most a single substituent other than hydrogen in the Alpha or Beta position, and a 3,4-epoxycyclohexylcarbinyl 3,4epoxycyclohexanecarboxylate in an amount such that the ratio of epoxy groups to carboxyl groups is 0.1 to 1.2. The polymers thus produced have an even distribution of the cross-linking material, and are useful as moldable or thermoformable materials. |
