abstract Discloses a circuit interrupter in which an arc is established during circuit interruption. Along the path of the arc, there is provided arc-extinguishing structure from which arc-extinguishing gas is evolved by the heat of the arc. The arc-extinguishing structure is of a material comprising tungsten trioxide, and the evolved gas comprises vapors of tungsten trioxide.
