abstract HYDROCARBYL - HYDROXYVPHENYL - DIHYDROCARBYLDITHIOCARBAMATES AE PREPARED BY THE REACTION OF DIHYDROCARBYL HALOPHENOLS WITH A METAL SALT OF A DIHYDROCARBYLTHIOCARBAMATE. FOR EXAMPLE, THE REACTION OF 2,6-DI-TERT-BUTYL-4BROMOPHENOL WITH THE SODIUM ALST OF DIMETHYLDITHIOCARBAMATE YIELDS 3,5-DI-TERT-BUTYL-4-HYDROXYPHENYL DIMETHYL DITHIOCARBAMATE. THE COMPOUNDS ARE USEFUL AS ANTIOXIDANTS. EFFECTIVENESS IS ENHANCED BY DIHYDROCARBYL THIODIALKANOATES AND ORGANIC PHOSPHITES OR PHOSPHONATES.
