6-AZAURACIL IS PRODUCED BY COMBINING THIOSEMICARBAZIDE, GLYOXYLIC ACID, AND DIMETHYL SULFATE IN AQUEOUS SOLUTION. CYCLIZATION OCCURS, WITH THE PRODUCTION OF THE DESIRED PRODUCT. THE PROCEDURE IS SIMPLE, GIVES GOOD YIELDS, AND REQUIRES ONLY COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE STARTING MATERIALS, AND IS READILY ADAPTED TO CONTINUOUS FLOW SYNTHESIS. |
