HEATING THE MIXTURE TO A TEMPERTURE NOT GREATER THAN ABOUT 150*C. AND SIMULTANEOUSLY AGITATING THE MIXTURE UNTIL THE ARYL METHYL GROUP HAS OXIDIZED TO A CARBOXYLIC ACID GROUP AND SEPARATING THE ACID THUS FORMED. |
