titleOfInvention Indicator drive and positive-zero reset mechanism for a demand meter
abstract A demand meter is provided with an indicator drive and positivezero reset mechanism that is characterized by incorporating an anti-backlash gear assembly, which enables an indicating pointer on the meter to be reset precisely to its zero-indicating position without introducing any error into subsequent meter readings, due to relative movement between the gears of the indicating pointer drive gear train. The reset mechanism is further characterized by incorporating a simple adjusting means that is readily accessible from the front of the meter so that an operator can easily calibrate the position of the demandindicating pointer relative to an associated indicating scale. A self-counterbalancing indicating pointer is mounted on the first dial shaft of the indicator drive gear train and is operable, in combination with the indicator drive and reset mechanism, to prevent the pointer from being moved in response to mechanical vibration of the meter.
