THESE MUTANT STRAINS ARE OBTAINED BY ULTRAVIOLET, Y-RAY OR X-RAY IRRADIATION OR BY CHEMICAL TREATMENT OF PARENT STRAINS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING 5''-NUCLEOTIDES.
