IT HAS BEEN FOUND IN THE CASE OF SILICON THAT THE PRESENCE OF THE OXIDIZING AGENT IS NOT REQUIRED FOR ETCHING BUT INHIBITS THE FORMATION OF PYRAMIDS WHICH TERMINATE THE ETCHING PROCESS.
