THE PROCESS OF THIS INVENTION FOR FINISHING METAL COMPRISES THE FOLLOWING STEPS: (1) ELECTRODEPOSITING A PRIMER COATING OF A CARBOXYLIC POLYMER ON A METAL SUBSTRATE, WASHING THE COATED SUBSTRATE AND BAKING THE COATED SUBSTRATE; (2) APPLYING A SEALER COAT TO THE PRIMED SUBSTRATE AND THEN A COATING OF AN ACRYLIC ORGANOSOL LACQUER AND BAKING THE COATING TO FORM A SMOOTH, GLOSSY FINISH HAVING A HIGH QUALITY LACQUER APPEARANCE. THE PROCESS IS PARTICULARLY USEFUL FOR FINISHING AUTOMOBILE BODIES AND TRUCK BODIES. |
