WHEN A PART OF POLYAMIDE OR POLYESTER IS REMOVED FROM THE MULTI-LAYER STRUCTURE, A FIBER HAVING A SILK-LIKE DEEP GLOSS AND HIGHLY IMPROVED WATER ABSORBING PROPERTY AND TOUCH CAN BE OBTAINED. A NOVEL SYNTHETIC MULTI-SEGMENTED FIBER HAVING A TOUCH SIMILAR TO NATURAL FIBER, AN EXCELLENT WATER ABSORBING PROPERTY AND AN IMPROVED GLOSS, WHICH COMPRISES AT LEAST 10 FINE SEGMENTS WHICH ARE COMPOSED OF AT LEAST ONE COMPONENT OF FIBER-FORMING LINEAR POLYAMIDE AND POLYESTER, EXTEND SUBSTANTIALLY CONTINUOUSLY ALONG THE LONGITUDINAL DIRECTION OF THE FIBER AND OCCUPY AT LEAST A PART OF THE PERIPHERY OF THE UNITARY MULTI-SEGMENTED FIBER, SAID FINE SEGMENTS HAVING THEIR CROSS-SECTIONAL SHAPES AND AREAS IRREGULAR AND UNEVEN TO EACH OTHERS, AND ADJACENT SEG- |
