abstract THIS INVENTION IS DIRECTED TO MICROSCOPIC CAPSULES COMPRISING A CONTINUOUS SYNTHETIC POLYMERIC LAYER SURROUNDING A NUCLEUS COMPOSED OF PHOTOSENSITIVE SILVER HALIDE GRAINS WHEREIN THE POLYMERIC LAYER IS OF SUFFICIENT THICKNESS TO SUBSTANTIALLY OVERCOME THE ATTRACTIVE FORCES OF SAID SILVER HALIDE GRAINS FOR ADJACENT SILVER HALIDE GRAINS. THUS, THE PRESENT INVENTION CONTEMPLATES INDIVIDUAL GRAINS OF PHOTOSENSITIVE SILVER HALIDE WHICH ARE SPATIALLY SEPARATED FROM ADJACENT GRAINS BY MEANS OF A POLYMERIC LAYER ENCASING THE GRAINS. THE PRESENT INVENTION IS ALSO DIRECTED TO METHODS FOR PROVIDING SUCH ENCAPSULATED PRODUCTS AND TO PHOTOGRAPHIC PRODUCTS EMPLOYING SAID CAPSULES.
