abstract | 18-Lower alkyl androstenes are prepared by a sequence of steps from 3 Beta , 20 Beta -dihydroxypregn-5-en-18-oic acid 18,20lactone 3-acetate. The method proceeds through novel 18-lower alkyl pregnane intermediate compounds. These compounds are useful as intermediates and also possess antiestrogen activity. The 18lower androstene products possess various useful steroidal activities. |
