Substituted haloalkanesulfonanilides in which the sulfonamido nitrogen is optionally substituted by a cation, an alkyl group or a member of the group WHEREIN A is oxygen or a carbon-carbon bond, Q is a lower alkyl group, the anilide phenyl and another phenyl are linked by a group selected from -CHOH-, -CHONCH2-, -C(CH3) OH- and -C(C6H5)OH - and the phenyl rings are optionally substituted. These compounds are physiologically active, for example as antiinflammatory agents, anti-microbial agents or herbicides. |
