abstract A process for recovering the cyclopentadiene values from a cyclopentadiene-containing C5 fraction consisting of a mixture of paraffinic, olefinic and diolefinic hydrocarbons, which comprises subjecting the fraction to treatment to dimerize the cyclopentadiene to dicyclopentadiene; subjecting the fraction to a liquid-liquid extraction with a selective solvent whereby there is formed a solvent phase containing the diolefinic hydrocarbons and a paraffin-olefin phase containing the dicyclopentadiene, and recovering the dicyclopentadiene from said paraffin-olefin phase by distillation.
