abstract ELECTROLYTIC CELL OPERATION IN WHICH THE ELECTROLYTE IS AGITATED NEAR ONE OF A PAIR OF ELECTRODES AND A BARRIER IS INTERPOSED BETWEEN THE ELECTRODES AND IS PHYSICALLY COMBINED WITH STRUCTURE OF ONE OF THE ELECTODES. THE CELL MAY HAVE AN ALKALI-METAL HYDROXIDE ELECTROLYTE MAINTAINED AT A TEMPERATURE OF AT LEAST 300 DEGREES C. TO RENDER THE ELECTROLYTE MOLTEN AND ANHYDROUS. PEROXIDE AND SUPEROXIDE MAY FUNCTION AS THE ELECTROCHEMICAL OXIDANT OF THE CELL.
