abstract Polymerization initiator compositions comprising reaction products of C2-C12 alkyllithiums with monomers from the group of polymerizable conjugated dienes and polymerizable vinylsubstituted aromatic compounds in a medium of aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbons and/or aliphatic tertiary monoamines or aryl ethers, the conjugated diene and vinylsubstituted aromatic compound portion of said initiator compositions being relatively nonpolymeric. Such initiator compositions are highly effective for the productions of polymers of conjugated dienes and/or vinyl-substituted aromatic compounds.
