abstract The addition of transition metals or oxides or salts thereof, to pyrotechnic compositions containing conventional fuels and oxidizers, to greatly improve the luminous efficiency, average luminous output and propagative burning characteristics of such pyrotechnic compositions. The elements and compounds which are added also reduce the burning rate and lower the ignition temperature of such pyrotechnic compositions.
