titleOfInvention | Lead ring removal from a steam still |
abstract | Lead ring deposits formed by the deposition of solid lead particles on steam still surfaces are removed by directing a fluid such as water, maintained at high pressure across an orifice at the surface to be cleaned. Pressures of 2,000 to 10,000 p.s.i.g. are employed across the orifice plate from which the fluid is directed against the surfaces to dislodge or explode the adherent lead ring from the still surfaces quickly and efficiently thereby eliminating the tedious mechanical scraping methods previously employed. |
