An improved article of footwear comprising a heelboard and an upper wherein the outer edge of the upper is bent around the heelboard and adhesively bonded to the lower surface thereof, wherein the improvement comprises a sheet of resin which covers at least a portion of the lower surface of the heelboard, said resin being selected from the group consisting of: A. copolymers of at least one olefin with at least one nonhydrocarbon aliphatic monomer, and B. blends of A with at least one polyolefin, whereby the adhesive bond between the upper and the heelboard is strengthened. |
