abstract | CHLORTETRACYCLINE HYDROCHLORIDE AND CHLORTETRACYCLINE NEUTRAL BASE ARE PREPARED AND/OR PURIFIED BY (1) DISSOLVING CHLORTETRACYCLINE HYDROCHLORIDE IN AN AQUEOUS UREA, THIOUREA OR WATER SOLUBLE ALKYL UREA SOLUTION OR (2) BY DISSOLVING CHLORTETRACYCLINE NEUTRAL BASE IN AN AQUEOUS SOLUTION OF UREA, THIOUREA OR WATER SOLBLE ALKYL UREA AND HYDROCHLORIC ACID TO OBTAIN AN AQUEOUS CHLORTETRACYCLINE HYDROCHLORIDE-UREA, THIOUREA OR WATER SOLUBLE ALKYL UREA SOLUTION WHICH CAN THEN BE CLARIFIED TO REMOVE COLOR OR ANY INSOLUBLE IMPURITIES.
