abstract Photographic blix compositions containing (a) an ammonium or amine salt of the Fe , Co , or Cu complex with a polyfunctional ligand as the silver bleaching agent, (b) an amine or an ammonium thiosulfate and (c) a salt having as a cation an ammonium ion or a water-soluble amine with an ionizable proton attached to a nitrogen atom in the amine and as an anion a sulfite ion, bisulfite ion or a metabisulfite ion either with or without (d) an amine or ammonium salt of unchelated polyfunctional ligand are advantageously prepared in concentrated stock solutions or as dry mixtures to make working blix solutions that clear silver even in high concentrations along with residual silver halides from developed silver halide emulsion layers with substantially shorter clearing times than blixes outside the invention.
