SAID ALKYL POLYHYDRO-2-PHENANTHRYLIDENEACETATES ARE HYDROLYZED TO THE FREE ACID, AND THE REESTERIFIED VIA THE ACID CHLORIDE WITH A TERTIARY-AMINO-LOWER-ALKANOL TO GIVE BASIC ESTERS HAVING CARDIOTONIC ACTIVITY.
