THE PRESENT INVENTION RELATES TO NOVEL PROCESSES BY WHICH SUBSTITUENT GROUPS AND CROSSLINKS CAN BE INTRODUCED INTO CELLULOSE AND OTHER POLYMERIC COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING REACTIVE HYDROXYL GROUPS.
