A RECTIVE UNSATURATED POLYAMIDE RESIN PREPARED BY CONDENSING A HIGH MOLECULAR WEIGHT POLYCARBOXYLIC ACID (C12 OR GREATER) AND AN ALIPHATIC PRIMARY OR SECONDARY DIAMINE (C3 OR GREATER) TO FORM A PRODUCT WITH FREE AMINO GROUPS WHICH ARE THEN REACTED WITH MALEIC ACID ANHYDRIDE. THE UNSATURATED POLYAMIDE RESIN CAN ALSO BE FURTHER MODIFIED BY REACTION OF THE CARBOXYL GROUPS WITH MONO- OR DI-EPOXIDE COMPOUNDS. HARDENABLE MIXTURES OF SUCH A RESIN WITH A COPOLYMERIZABLE MONOMER SUCH AS STYRENE. RESIN BODIES PREPARED BY HARDENING SUCH MIXTURES BY FREE-RADICAL POLYMERIZATION. |
