ALKENE OXIDES CONTAINING 2 TO 20 CARBON ATOMS ARE POLYMERIZED IN THE PRESENCE OF A CATALYST FORMED BY AN ORGANOLUMINUM COMPOUND AND A TRIORGANOPHOSPHINE COMPOUND. ONE EXAMPLE OF SUCH A CATALYST EMPLOYS TRIISOBUTYLALUMIUM AND TRIPHENYLPHOSPHINE. IN ADDITION, THESE ALKENE OXIDES CAN BE COPOLYMERIZED WITH CERTAIN VINYL MONOMERS. |
