titleOfInvention | Dihydrocarbon tin mercaptides |
abstract | Dihydrocarbontin dialkylbenzene a ,a 1-dimercaptides of the formula <FORM:1011312/C3/1> e.g. <FORM:1011312/C3/2> defined later, are employed possibly together with other stabilizers as heat stabilizers for halogen-containing resin compositions, e.g. vinyl chloride polymers and copolymers of vinyl chloride with vinyl acetate, vinylidene chloride and acrylonitrile. The treated resin may contain 0.5-10% based on the wt. of the resin of the stabilizer. R is an aralkyl, alkyl or phenyl radical, R1 and R11 are alkylene radicals containing 1-3 carbon atoms, and X is at least 1. R1 and R11 groups may be o, m or p to each other. R may be methyl, ethyl, butyl, isobutyl, tert.-butyl, amyl, hexyl, heptyl, octyl, monyl or dodecyl. A mixture of polyvinyl chloride and di-n-butyltin p-xylene a ,a 1-dimercaptide is described. Other stabilizers may be dibutyltin dilaurate, dibutyltin maleate, dibutyltin bis-(lauryl mercaptide) and their dioctyl tin analogues. |
