abstract Described herein are new silicone-based compounds that have short wavelength infrared (SWIR) absorption and emission. The silicone-based compounds are readily accessible and obtainable on large scale with high purity through simple purification procedures. In one aspect, the silicone-based compounds have an absorption extending into the SWIR region and an emission maximum in the SWIR region which is promising for biological imaging applications.
