abstract Techniques are provided for implementing power control in a 2-step random access channel (RACH) procedure, including implementing power control during MsgA transmission of the 2-step RACH procedure. For example, a user equipment (UE) determines a transmission power for a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission based on a transmission power of a physical random access channel (PRACH) preamble that is associated with the PUSCH transmission during the 2-step RACH procedure. The UE further performs the 2-step RACH procedure using the determined transmission power of the PUSCH to establish a connection to the wireless network.
