Methods and systems for bathing nose and sinus passages |
abstract |
A system and method for delivering a bathing liquid via a nostril of a face-down user maintains a column of the liquid in prolonged and predictable contact with the nasal and sinus mucosa, and creates turbulence in the column of liquid within the user's nasal cavity to enhance removal of debris from walls of the nasal cavity. A head orientation unit attaches to the user's head and includes an angle monitoring unit to provide an indication of the angular orientation of the user's head as it turns to optimize delivery of the liquid to target head structures. A liquid supply delivers the liquid through the user's nostrils to one or more head structures as a function of the angular orientation indication and at a pressure and flow rate that maintains a constant volume of liquid in the nasal and sinus cavities. Indicia on the angle monitoring unit permit the user to orient his/her head to predetermined angular positions. |
