abstract A display device may include a display unit, a finger print sensing unit, and a timing control unit. The display unit includes a plurality of pixel units and includes a fingerprint recognition unit, which may generate first fingerprint data related to a fingerprint. The fingerprint sensing unit may extract a plurality of maxima corresponding to ridge portions of the fingerprint from the first fingerprint data to generate second fingerprint data and may generate luminance data based on the second fingerprint data. The timing control unit may calculate a degree of deterioration of the fingerprint recognition unit based on the luminance data to generate compensation data. The fingerprint recognition unit may receive a data signal corresponding to the compensation data.
