abstract Embodiments of the present invention, relating to the communications field, disclose a paging optimization method, apparatus, and system, so as to ensure that a terminal normally receives a paging message sent by a system. A specific solution carried by a core network node comprising determining channel loss information of a terminal according to an international mobile subscriber identity IMSI or a temporary mobile subscriber identity S-TMSI of the terminal; and sending a first paging message that carries the channel loss information to an access network node, wherein the first paging message is used to page the terminal. The present invention is used in a paging process.
