titleOfInvention Diagnosing multiple sclerosis
abstract There is provided an in vitro method for diagnosing Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in a human test subject, comprising (i) determining the concentrations of two or more metabolites in a sample from said subject, wherein said two or more metabolites are selected from: blood metabolites, wherein said blood metabolites comprise: alanine, ascorbic acid, choline, fatty acid, glucose, lactate, N-acetyl aspartate, N-acetyl glycoprotein, n-butyrate, oxyglutaric acid, phosphocholine, taurinebetaine, tyrosine, L-glutamine, N-acetyl species, and beta-hydroxybutyrate; and/or urine metabolites, wherein said urine metabolites comprise: citrate, creatinine, inositol, lactate and trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO); (ii) comparing the concentrations of said two or more metabolites in the sample with the concentrations of the same metabolites in at least one reference standard; and (iii) identifying a concentration difference for each of said two or more metabolites in the sample relative to the reference standard; wherein said concentration differences correlate with the presence of MS.
