abstract A wearable device for treating dysmenorrhea in a patient includes a microprocessor, electrical stimulator and at least one electrode configured to deliver electrical stimulation from the external surface of the patient's epidermal layer through a range of 0.1 mm to 10 mm or a range of 0.1 mm to 20 mm of the dermis by applying electrical stimulation to the epidermis of a T9 to T12, L1, L2, L5 and/or S1 to S4 dermatomes of the patient. The device includes a pad, in which the electrode is disposed, for secure placement of the device on a skin surface of the patient. The device is adapted to provide electrical stimulation as per stimulation protocols and to communicate wirelessly with a companion control device configured to monitor and record menstruation-related patterns of the patient. The control device is also configured to monitor, record, and modify stimulation parameters of the stimulation protocols.
