abstract The present invention relates to a nano-fluid composition for use in a method for enhanced oil recovery comprising a sultaine compound, a solvent or mixture of solvents comprising hydrocarbons having 5 to 12 carbons, and nanoparticles selected from Magnesia, Alumina and Zinc Oxide. The present invention provides also a novel method for enhanced oil recovery involving injection of the said nano-fluid composition into a subterranean formation and obtaining material comprising petroleum from a subterranean formation downhole.
