abstract A porous carbon that can sufficiently adsorb water vapor on a high humidity side is provided. n A porous carbon is characterized by having mesopores and micropores and having a water vapor adsorbed amount ratio, as defined by the following expression (1), of 1.8 or higher. It is particularly preferable that the water vapor adsorbed amount ratio as defined by the following expression (1) be 2.0 or higher. It is also preferable that the water vapor adsorbed amount at a relative humidity of 70% be 50 mg/g or greater. n Water vapor adsorbed amount ratio=water vapor adsorbed amount at a relative humidity of 90%/water vapor adsorbed amount at a relative humidity of 70%.   (1)
