abstract Methods and apparatuses for measuring the concentration of functional proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9). A method of measuring functional PCSK9 in a sample is provided, by contacting the sample with a PCSK9-binding agent capable of binding to the LDL-R-binding region of a PCSK9; and measuring the amount of functional PCSK9 from the sample bound to the binding agent. Diagnostic methods, kits, and reagents for using the method are also provided.
