abstract |
Disclosed herein is an electrochemical cell comprising a housing containing an electrolyte composition, and a multi-layer article at least partially immersed in the electrolyte composition;n wherein the multi-layer article comprises a first metallic current collector, a negative electrode material in electrically conductive contact with the first metallic current collector, a positive electrode material in ionically conductive contact with the negative electrode material, a porous separator disposed between and contacting the negative electrode material and the positive electrode material, and a second metallic current collector in electrically conductive contact with the positive electrode material; wherein the porous separator comprises a nanoweb that comprises a plurality of nanofibers, wherein the nanofibers consist essentially of a fully aromatic polyimide; and wherein the positive electrode is charged above 4.4 V versus a Li metal reference electrode. |
