titleOfInvention | Method for separating hf from hf/halogenated hydrocarbon mixtures using ionic liquids |
abstract | The present invention relates to an ionic liquid comprised of a salt, the anion of which is Cl − , F − , and (HF) n F − (n=1.0−4.0), or combination thereof. In another embodiment, the present invention relates to a process of separating HF from a first mixture comprised of at least one halogenated hydrocarbon and HF which comprises contacting the mixture with an ionic liquid comprised of a salt, the anion of which is Cl − , F − , and (HF) n F − where n is a positive number ranging from 1 to 4, inclusive 4.0), to form a second mixture comprised of HF, halogenated hydrocarbon and said ionic liquid, extracting a solution comprising HF therefrom, and recovering HF therefrom. |
