abstract | A liquid crystal composition including: one or two or more compounds selected from the group consisting of compounds represented by the general formula (i), and one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of compounds represented by the general formula (ii). In the general formulae, R 11a and R 21a independently represent an alkyl group having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, and one —CH 2 — group or two or more —CH 2 — groups which are not adjacent to each other in the alkyl group may be independently substituted by —CH═CH—, —C≡C—, —O—, —CO—, —COO— or —OCO, and a hydrogen atom in the alkyl group may be substituted by a fluorine atom or a chlorine atom, m 21 represents 0 or 1, X 21 , X 22 , X 23 and X 24 independently represent a hydrogen atom, fluorine atom or chlorine atom, and X 25 represents a hydrogen atom, a fluorine atom, a chlorine atom, a cyano group, —CF 3 or —OCF 3 . |
