abstract A vessel closure system is provided that can include a plurality of shape memory anchors configured to close a puncture in a vessel wall. The shape memory anchors can be at least partially disposed within a guide member and can be comprised of materials having shape memory properties. The shape memory anchors can be configured to change from a first configuration suitable for deployment from the guide member and through the vessel wall to a second configuration adapted to resist proximal movement against a distal surface of the vessel wall. The shape memory anchors can be coupled to at least one suture. The vessel closure system can also include a plurality of carriers having a distal end and a proximal end. The carriers can be disposed at least partially within the guide member. Each of the carrier members can be configured to deploy at least one of the shape memory anchors from the guide member.
