abstract Systems and methods for providing a solar photovoltaic (PV) facility as a source of secondary power for a nuclear power facility in the event of a power failure at the nuclear power facility. The solar PV facility is operably connected to the nuclear power facility by, e.g., a direct connection or through a substation. When a power failure at the nuclear power facility is detected, a switching system connects the solar PV facility to the nuclear power facility to provide a source of backup power to emergency systems. Power may be applied directly to such systems or to batteries at the nuclear power facility. In some implementations, the solar PV facility is physically located proximate to the nuclear power facility.
