abstract An expression display device includes an electrostrictive element having a stretched dielectric layer, and electrodes disposed with the dielectric layer interposed therebetween. The dielectric layer has a crosslinked material layer made of a three-dimensional crosslinked material synthesized from a rubber polymer and a metal alkoxide compound or a compound having a hydrosilyl group. The electrodes contain an elastomer and a conductive material. The expression display device displays a facial expression as the dielectric layer extends and contracts according to a voltage that is applied between the electrodes.
