abstract A system and a method are disclosed herein for monitoring potential spread of an infectious agent in an environment. A method is disclosed that includes providing a detectable marker/tracer for emplacement on one or more body regions of a subject at a time when the subject is entering the environment; identifying a unique tag/identifier associating the detectable marker/tracer with the subject; observing with a camera the marker/tracer in the environment; and detecting a transfer of the marker/tracer from the one or more body regions of the subject to one or more surfaces of the environment.
