abstract |
The sugary enhancer phenotype in maize results from the absence of expression of a nucleotide sequence located on Chromosome 2. Methods for screening, selecting or identifying plants containing the sequence and for estimating the sucrose content in maize plants are disclosed. Genetically modified plants having altered expression of the nucleotide sequence are provided. |
