abstract A scintillator for converting radiation into light includes a first conversion layer being a planar phosphor and a second conversion layer having columnar phosphors. To form the columnar phosphors of the second conversion layer, optical fibers of a fiber optic plate are filled with a phosphor paste. The columnar phosphors produce a light guide effect. The phosphors of both the first and second conversion layers contain GOS particles dispersed in a resin binder.
