Certain embodiments are directed to a chemiluminescent device comprising a time-delay mechanism comprising at least two ampoules and an enclosure for the time-delay mechanism, wherein an oxalate component is contained in one of the at least two ampoules, and a peroxide component is contained in another of the at least two ampoules, and wherein the time-delay mechanism delays the chemiluminescent reaction of the oxalate component and the peroxide component.
