abstract A hand held gamma ray scanner comprises a one dimensional array of SSPM detectors coupled to a scintillator slab or an array of scintillators. A position tracker is attached to this “scanner” enabling software in a support system to acquire the position of the scanner, as well as 1-D images of the distribution of gamma rays received from radiation labeled tissue and generate an output signal in real time.
