abstract The invention relates to dental retraction device having the shape of a yarn comprising twisted staple fibers, the twisted staple fibers comprising an alginate containing component, wherein the length of the staple fibers is in a range of about 10 to about 200 mm and/or wherein the staple fiber fineness is at least about 1 dtex. The invention also relates to a method for producing such a device as well as the use of this device in a process for retracting dental tissue.
