titleOfInvention Analyzing the FMR1 Gene
abstract A method of predicting a degree of risk of autoimmunity in a human female is disclosed. The method may include analyzing the female's FMR1 gene, wherein the FMR1 gene has a first allele and a second allele, determining the number of triple CGG repeats on each of the first and second alleles; defining a normal range of triple CGG repeats; and comparing the number of triple CGG repeats on each of the first and second alleles to the normal range. If the triple CGG repeat number for one of the first and second alleles is in the normal range and the triple CGG repeat number for the other one of the first and second alleles is less than the lower boundary of the normal range, then the female is at increased risk of autoimmunity. Additionally, a method of predicting pregnancy chances for a human female is disclosed. The method may include analyzing the female's FMR1 gene, wherein the FMR1 gene has a first allele and a second allele; determining the number of triple CGG repeats on each of the first and second alleles; defining a normal range of triple CGG repeats; and comparing the number of triple CGG repeats on each of the first and second alleles to the normal range. If the triple CGG repeat number for one of the first and second alleles is in the normal range and the triple CGG repeat number for the other one of the first and second alleles is less than the lower boundary of the normal range, then the female has decreased chances of pregnancy.
