titleOfInvention Apparatus and method for surface cooling
abstract Exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure provide method and apparatus for cooling a tissue surface that includes a housing configured to enclose a volume above a target region of the tissue, at least one outlet arrangement (e.g., duct) through which gas can be withdrawn from the enclosed volume, and at least one inlet arrangement (e.g., duct) that allows or facilitates further gas to enter the enclosed volume. A flow of gas can thus be provided over the target area that can cool it by convection. A liquid can be provided on the target area to provide additional evaporative cooling. Electromagnetic energy can be directed onto the target area through a portion of the housing, and debris generated by interaction of the energy with the tissue can be safely contained within the enclosed volume and removed therefrom through the outlet duct.
